Bard Breaks School Records at Utica Invite

UTICA – The Bard College men’s indoor track team competed at the Utica University Blue & Orange Invitational on Saturday.

The Raptors broke four schools records. CeDaniel Sumpter started the day with a personal best and school record in the 60 meter dash (7.54). Jack Keelan placed fourth in both the 200 and 400, setting personal bests and school records in both events. First year Clemente Esponilla set a new Bard mark in the 3K.

The 4×400 relay team (Sumpter, Keelan, Graeme Lauterbach-Mason, Caleb Ribeiro) placed fourth in a field of 11 teams.

“Today the men’s pushed the needle forward, running with grit and passion,” Bard coach Billy Poole-Harris said. “Most, if not all, executed their race plans accordingly and it shows. Our team as a whole is growing in confidence, and that’s exciting with the conference meet four weeks away. I’m really happy with this group.”

Bard will next compete in the NYC DIII Invitational at The Armory on Friday.
