Knights Produce School Record, Personal Bests

UTICA – For the second time this Indoor Season, Christopher Christiano found his way onto the school record board for the Knights, setting a new school standard in the 800-meters on Saturday at the Pioneer Fast Trax Invitational hosted by Utica.

Christiano, who set the school record in the 1,000-meters at the Crowell Open on December 3, set his second school record of the season on Saturday. He finished the 800-meter race in a time of 2:01.79, good for ninth place overall in the event. Christiano eclipsed the pervious school mark of 2:02.92 set by Kenneth Barrett on December 1, 2018.

Andrew Maloy also had a strong day for the Mount, placing 27th in the Shot Put and posting a personal best in the Weight Throw. Maloy produced a mark of 8.67 in the Shot Put and a mark of 11.50 meters in the Weight Throw, placing 12th overall.

The Men’s Distance Medley Relay team also produce a strong outing with the team of Greg Casale, Michael Gillespie, Christian Pangione and Christiano posting a time of 12:41.46, good for eighth place.

In the women’s meet, Lily O’Brien qualified for the finals in the Long Jump and posted a personal best time in the 800-meters. O’Brien finished eighth in the Long Jump with a leap of 4.63 meters and finished the 800-meters with a personal best time of 2:48.80.

Lindsey Medina led the Mount in the throwing events, setting a personal best in the Weight Throw with a heave of 11.55 meters.

“Our track athletes continue to improve this season, mutiple men and women had their personal best today which is great to see. So proud of Chris breaking his second indoor record this season. Looking forward to more meets this spring semester,” said Head Coach Fred Callo.

Mount Saint Mary will close out the Indoor Season on February 18 at the West Point Tune-Up.
