WEST POINT – The Vassar College Women’s Tennis team made its spring debut on Saturday afternoon as the Brewers fell to Army West Point 7-0 on the campus of Army.
In doubles action, Isabella Brilliant and Maria Drobotova defeated junior Sofie Shen and freshman Erin McCusker 6-1 at the top flight while McKinnley Smith and Anna Loureiro won 6-2 over freshman Iris Li and sophomore Macey Dowd. The third flight duo of Elizabeth Gilbert and Sophie McKenzie completed the doubles sweep with a 6-1 victory over senior Tatum Blalock and sophomore Elyse Duley.
Brilliant began singles action with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Blalock at the top flight followed by Drobotova winning 6-2, 6-1 over Dowd at two. Three saw McKenzie outlast McCusker 6-3, 2-6, 10-5 while Smith defeated Shen 6-2, 7-5 at four. The fifth flight saw Loureiro take a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Li while Paulina Feoli rounded out the day with a 6-1, 6-3 triumph over freshman Ananya Kirshnan.
Vassar will make its home debut this weekend as the Brewers host the University of Rochester at 10:00 a.m. at Walker Field House on Sunday, February 18th.
