Bruns Stars in Senior Night Win Against RIT

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON – Senior Tyler Bruns led Bard to a dramatic 95-92 overtime victory against R.I.T. on Senior Night at the Stevenson Athletic Center.

The Concord, N.H. native scored a career-best 23 points on a day when teammates, fans, and family celebrated his many accomplishments in a Bard uniform. Bruns’ career-high five three-pointers helped keep the Raptors in the game, and he also led the team with seven rebounds in a team-high 32 minutes.

“The team worked hard, fought and stayed together all year, and it was great to see that effort rewarded with a win to end the season,” said Bard coach Mike Lenahan.

“Congratulations to Tyler Bruns, who is as great of a player, teammate, and leader as I’ve been around in 15 years of coach. He had an amazing performance tonight for Senior Night.”

Bard raced out to an early lead and took a 51-37 advantage into halftime, but the Tigers fought back in the second half and after a number of lead changes, tied the game with 13 seconds left. In overtime, the teams traded leads but a free throw by Harris with 17 seconds remaining and the two from Bruns sealed the victory.

Bard had a balanced attack and received contributions from many players; five Raptors scored in double figures, including Elliot Harris with 15, Calvin Mader-Clark with 13, and Caleb Moore and Sean Wilcox each with 11. Moore also added five assists.

The Raptors finish the season with a 7-18 record, 4-14 in the Liberty League. Bruns averaged a team-best 12.7 points per game, followed by Greg Farrow (10.5) and Harris (10.0).
