Marist Softball Splits on Day Two in Hawaii

HONOLULU, HI – The Marist softball team splits its two games on its second day of competition at the Bank of Hawaii Invitational on Saturday.

In game one, Marist earned a 4-1 win over St. Bonaventure. In their second game, the Red Foxes were defeated by Hawaii, 8-2.

Alyssa Grupp had four hits on the day to pace the Red Foxes.

Game One
Reese Wilson’s RBI single brought home Alyssa Grupp in the bottom of the second.

St. Bonaventure tied the game on a double steal in the top of the third.

Marist scored three in the sixth. Grupp’s two-run single scored Sam Freeland and Kaitlyn Husic. Grupp later scored on a wild pitch.

Kiley Myers pitched a six-hitter and struck out four.

Grupp went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Freeland and Peyton Pusey each had two hits.

Game Two
Izabella Martinez’s two-run double gave Hawaii a two-run lead in the first.

In the fourth, Isabella Manory’s bases-loaded walk forced home Kaitlyn Husic.

Hawaii added three in the fifth, which included a two-run single from Martinez.

Manory reached on a one-out double in the sixth, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Peyton Pusey.

Hawaii countered with three in the bottom of the sixth. Haley Johnson had a two-run single.

Maddie Pleasants and Alyssa Grupp had two hits apiece.
