The Bard Raptors Battle Potsdam And John Jay

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON – The Bard men’s volleyball team battled hard in a pair of matches on Sunday in the Stevenson Athletic Center, falling 3-0 to SUNY Potsdam and 3-1 to John Jay.

Against John Jay, the Raptors dropped the first set but came out in the second and fought back to tie the match at 1-1. Senior Angel Obergh earned the final points of the set with three straight kills to capture a 25-21 win.

Ty McGlynn (16 kills) and Obergh (11 kills) paced the offense, with Georgi Chikolov passing for 28 assists, and also adding a pair of blocks.

The visitors took control in the third and fourth sets to earn the 3-1 win.

In the first match of the day, Potsdam was strong in the first set, winning 25-10, but came back in the second and pulled to within 18-16 before the Bears closed it out. The NECC match moved Potsdam into third place in the conference, with Bard holding onto 6th place.

McGlynn (9 kills) and Obergh (5) were the main attacking threats, with McGlynn also earning a pair of blocks.

The Raptors will return to action quickly, hosting Sage on Tuesday night in an important NECC match at the Stevenson Athletic Center.
