NEWBURGH – Balmville and Fostertown Elementary School ENL third, fourth, and fifth grade scholars and their teachers were fortunate to return to SUNY New Paltz (post pandemic) for a full College Tour. Veronica Valle, Danielle Nelson, and Dayana Ortiz are grateful to the Newburgh Enlarged City School District and its administrators for the opportunity to expose their students to higher education. “It’s never too early to begin your College Visits”.
Prior to the trip, the students and their teachers discussed the purpose of their college trip. They talked about goalsetting for the future and made a list of questions to ask the college students leading the tour. The Balmville and Fostertown scholars met the Director of Education and he talked to the them about their future goals and what they need to do to get into college.
SUNY New Paltz Project Assistant, Lenore Shulte led the children on their tour around campus. The students had the unforgettable experience of eating lunch in a college cafeteria amongst college students. Both the students and their teachers look forward to visiting another College in the Fall.
