LOUDONVILLE – The Army West Point softball team (16-25, 7-2 PL) dropped both games against Siena (24-10, 5-1 MAAC) on Thursday afternoon. In Game 1, Army’s Ashton White had a hit and a run. Sophomore Julia Farris had a home run and an RBI in Game 2.
Game 1 (Siena Wins 4-1)
Army fell 4-1 to Siena in game one of the doubleheader despite a late comeback attempt.
The first two and a half innings were quiet from both teams with only Army notching a hit.
In the bottom of the third inning, Siena led off with a single and after two groundouts moving the runner to third, they plated the run with a single to short.
The Black Knights threatened in the fourth but were unable to drive Taylor Brown in after her one-out double.
Siena went up 4-0 after a big fifth inning that saw them score three more runs.

Army led off the seventh with a single and a double and scored on a sac fly from Ellie Caldwell.
Game 2 (Siena Wins 10-3)
The bats came alive for the Black Knights in the top of the first inning, attacking Siena starter Diana Parker (W, 4-0). Brook Mitchell hit a leadoff single, putting a runner on first.
With one out, Taylor Brown walked, putting a runner on first. Kayla Edwards put Army on the board after hitting an RBI single, making it a 1-0 game. With two outs, the Black Knights threatened to extend their lead. Army loaded the bases after Kaci Donaldson was hit by a pitch. The Saints retired the side with a double play.
In the bottom of the first, Siena threatened Army starter Alicyn Grete (No Decision). Sabrina Vargas ripped a single up the middle, putting a runner on first. With two outs, the Saints had a runner in scoring position, after Angelina Stile hit a single up the middle, putting runners on first and second. Army retired the side with a fly-out.
In the top of the second, Army’s Julia Farris hit a solo home run to left field, giving Army a 2-0 lead.
With two outs in the top of the third, Vargas walked, putting a runner on first. Vargas put a runner in scoring position, after stealing second. Siena’s Ava Fitzmaurice ripped a single down the right field line, sending Vargas in to score, making it a 2-1 game. The Saints tied it up at 2-2 after Stile hit a single to left center, bringing Fitzmaurice across the plate.
Amanda Eaglin came in to pitch relief for Alicyn Grete. With two runners on base, Eaglin ended the inning with a fly-out.
It was a pitcher’s duel in the fourth inning, keeping it a 2-2 game.
In the bottom of the fifth, Siena went up 6-2, after putting five runs on the board.
Army’s Ashton White blasted a solo home run to left field, making it a 6-3 game. The Saints retired the side with a popup, a groundout, and a strikeout.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Siena put an additional four runs on the board, extending their lead to 10-3. With one out, Army ended the inning with a groundout and a fly-out.
With one out in the top of the seventh, Brook Mitchell hit a single to left field, putting a runner on first. Angelina Bebek reached base on a fielder’s choice, putting runners on first and second. With two outs Taylor Brown advanced Bebek to second, putting a runner in scoring position. The Saints secured the win with a groundout.
