Marist Baseball Wins Series 2-1 Against Iona

POUGHKEEPSIE – The Marist baseball team took down Iona in a three-game series as the Red Foxes jump to 6-9 in conference [play. The Red Foxes defeated the Rams in a 13-12 comeback win, early Sunday morning.

The Gaels jumped out to an early lead on the Red Foxes as they led 3-0 through the first two innings.

Marist was able to get on the board in the bottom of the third inning as Justin Kapuscinski hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield and Dylan hoy scored as Marist trail 3-1 heading into the top of the fourth.

Iona was able to score three more runs as they extended their lead to 9-1 at the bottom of the fifth inning.

Brian Hart was able getting scoring going again for the Red Foxes as he was able to hit a grand slam for Marist as they cut down the Iona 9-6.

Marist continued to keep the bats hot as they added three more unanswered runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie up the game.

The Gaels scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning as they regained the lead 12-9 however, the Red Foxes were able to answer back as they scored three more runs in the bottom of the seventh inning as Justin Kapuscinski hit a single to center to get the leading run home.

Jack Bowery was able to close out the game for the Red Foxes as they held off the Gaels to take the series 2-1.
