Rochester Tops Bard as Raptors’ Season Closes

ROCHESTER – The Bard baseball team’s season came to an end on Sunday afternoon with a 9-3 loss to Rochester in the Liberty League crossover series.

Rochester, ranked second in the region, will advance to the Liberty League playoffs next weekend.

The Raptors, needing to win two games on Sunday against the top ranked team in the conference, fell behind early as the hosts put two runs on the board in the first inning, two more in the second, and three in the third.

Bard put two runs on the board in the fifth and another in the sixth to bring the score to 7-3, but Rochester struck back with two in the bottom of the sixth and closed the game out.

Six different Raptors had hits in the game, and Jared Toby and Anthony Brigante each had RBIs. Bard finishes its season at 8-21 but with several big wins and optimism for the future. The team will graduate several seniors, with the opportunity to celebrate their achievements in upcoming events including the awards banquet and senior lunch.
