Mount Places Second At ECAC Championship

BALTIMORE, MD. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women’s Track and Field team had a big day on Friday at the ECAC Championship Meet, placing second overall in the 10-team field with a program record point total of 108. Kaitlin Hansen and Priya Patel each produced runner-up finishes for the Knights.

Hansen’s runner-up finish in the 400-meter hurdles highlighted a strong day as she finished the even in a time of 1:11.73. Hansen added a fourth-place finish for the Knights in the 100-meter hurdle event, crossing the finish line in a time of 18.16 seconds.

Patel posted a second-place finish for the Mount in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and added a sixth-place finish in the 800-meters and seventh-place showings in the 1,500-meters and 5,000-meters. The runner-up finish for Patel came in a time of 16:03.58.

Fellow freshman Maria Baldwin also a strong day for the Mount, placing third in the 400-meters, sixth in the 100-meters and eighth in the 200-meters. The 400-meters was completed in 1:04.11 before adding 100 and 200 times of 14.43 and 28.90 seconds.

Sarah Kannenberg completed a strong meet for the Mount, taking the fourth position in both the 800 and 1,500-meters to go along with a fifth place finish in the 5,00-meters. Kannenberg posted times of 2:39.40 and 5:31.34 in the 800 and 1,500 races before completing the 5,000-meters in 24:13.04.

Lily O’Brien closed out her stellar rookie season with a fourth-place finish in the High Jump with a mark of 1.41 meters. O’Brien added a seventh-place finish in the Long Jump and Triple Jumps to go along with sixth-place finishes in the 100 and 400-meter hurdles.

Mount Saint Mary continued its strong showings in the Throws on Friday led by third place finishes in the Discus and Hammer Throw from Emily Schneider. Schneider posted marks of 25.03 and 38.04, respectively for the Knights.

Rebecca Meade and Lindsey Medina also had standout performances for the Mount with Meade placing sixth in the Javelin with a throw of 27.56 meters and Medina taking sixth in the Shot Put with a mark of 9.11 meters.

“What a great day for the Women’s program today. The team exceeded my expectations for the day finishing as the runner-up in a 10-team field. Priya had a great day scoring a bunch of points and Emily was fantastic in the throws. Maria, Kaitlin and Lily helped lead us on the track,” said Head Coach Fred Callo.
