Congressman Pat Ryan Celebrates H.V. Artists

NEWBURGH – Recently, Congressman Pat Ryan held a reception to honor high school students from NY-18 who submitted their artwork for the 2023 Congressional Art Competition. Atticus Jackson from Cornwall Central High School was chosen by a panel of judges as the winner of this year’s competition. Ella Brassard from New Paltz High School won the Facebook Fan Contest, as selected by the constituents of NY-18.

“The Hudson Valley is home to immense talent – I’m amazed at the creativity and skill that our high schoolers channeled into their artwork,” said Representative Ryan. “These young artists spent so much time on their masterpieces, perfecting every detail to accurately express their individuality. The hard work of all of our entrants deserves to be celebrated today. I’m looking forward to seeing a piece of the Hudson Valley every day on the hallway in the Capitol among the artwork of high schoolers from across the nation.”

High school students from NY-18 who submitted artworks to the 2023 Congressional Art Competition were invited by Congressman Ryan to attend a reception in their honor along with their families and guests. The winning work of art was chosen by a panel of judges from across the district and will hang in the hallway of the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. for one year.

The Congressional Art Competition is held annually each spring. Over 650,000 high school students have participated in the competition since its inception in 1982.
