National Homeownership Month Celebrated

WAPPINGERS FALLS – First Responders protect our community every day, both on and off the clock. And they know better than most how important affordable housing is to ensure a thriving, safe, and inclusive community for all. Yet 1 in 5 families in Dutchess County spends more than half their income on housing – leaving little for other necessities like groceries, healthcare, and education.

“As firefighters we are out in the community every day and we see the result of unsafe housing, we are honored to be join Habitat in providing Homeownership Opportunities.” Brian Ineson, City of Poughkeepsie Fire Depart Union Vice President

“Habitat for Humanity is a partnership. Habitat’s homeowner families buy the houses that Habitat builds and renovates with a financially sustainable mortgage. Community financial support will help families continue building with Habitat in your community and around the world.” Maureen Brennan Lashlee, CEO

Habitat Dutchess and their Honorary Build Captain Steve Diamond invite you to join local first responders in their efforts to raise vital funds needed to ensure everyone in our community has a place to call home.

All funds received will go directly towards construction of a new home for a local family in need. Visit www.habitatdutchess.org/first-responders-build/ for more information.
