$7.5M Awarded to Storm King Art Center

STORM KING – Senator James Skoufis (D-Orange County) and Assemblyman Chris Eachus (D-New Windsor) touted $7.5 million in capital funding from the New York State Council for the Arts awarded to Storm King Art Center (SKAC). The grant will enhance SKAC’s visitor experience, with new facilities for the center’s welcome sequence, expanded parking capacity, and other accommodations for tour groups. New facilities will prioritize sustainability with all-electric buildings and LEED Gold Certification for the welcome sequence.

“Storm King’s long history of preserving open space and offering unparalleled access to the outdoors while providing memorable cultural experiences will be well-served with these capital improvements,” said Senator Skoufis. “I applaud NYSCA for making this critical investment and for all they do to support arts and cultural vibrancy throughout the Hudson Valley.”

“Storm King Art Center is an environmental wonder of Orange County” said Assemblymember Eachus. “The Center inspires hundreds of thousands of visitors from around the world and introduces them to beautiful landscapes that only the Hudson Valley can offer. This great investment by NYSCA in our community sends a powerful message that New York is a cultural center for the arts, a national leader for protection of our environment, and a pristine destination for tourists.”

The funding was announced at Storm King’s groundbreaking for these campus-wide improvements recently.
