There’s a “New” Country Fair in Otisville this Year

OTISVILLE – There’s a “NEW” Country Fair in Otisville this year. Cornell Cooperative Extension Orange County (CCEOC) and the Otisville Lions Club joined forces and have an exciting, fun filled family Fair scheduled to open Thursday, July 27th through Sunday, July 30th at the CCEOC Education Center & 4-H Park, located at 300 Finchville Turnpike in Otisville.

The fun begins on Thursday, July 27th at 5:00PM and goes on until 10:00 PM. Amusement rides, animals, food, and hands-on activities are scheduled for all to enjoy. Friday, July 28th the Fair will open from 5:00 PM until 10:00 PM with a 4-H Dog Show, amusement rides, 4-H Sheep Show, Entertainment and so much more!

On Saturday, July 29th the Fair opens at 10:00 AM and we will celebrate the Grand Opening of the “NEW” Country Fair at 11:30 AM with a special visit by Agriculture & Markets Commissioner Richard A. Ball. He will officially welcome all, open the Fair, and participate in the fun. Commissioner Ball will be joined by many of our local figures to celebrate this new collaboration.

“We are excited to establish this new partnership with Cornell Cooperative Extension and have a permanent home for the Fair,” responded Ed Fairweather, Vice President of the Otisville Lions Club. “We look forward to growth and expansion moving forward. The continued support from the community for over 35 years is overwhelming and grateful. We look forward to a great event.”

The Fair embraces the history of past festivities by both organizations. The Otisville Country Fair began as a one-day flea market 33 years ago in a parking lot in downtown Otisville. It flourished into a 4-day family-oriented event. CCEOC Education Center & 4-H Park grew out of a need to expand educational programs and experience to meet the growing needs of the communities. Together a fun-filled 4-day Fair has been designed with amusement rides, food, animals, hands-on activities, and local vendors providing fun for all ages.

“Cornell Cooperative Extension is thrilled to be part of this collaboration with the Otisville Lions Club. We are excited to provide and expand activities for youth of all ages in our communities. We would also like to thank Commissioner Ball, Orange County Legislature, Farm Bureau, Towns of Mount Hope, Village of Otisville, and all the people behind the scenes who helped make this dream a reality” stated Executive Director Lucy Joyce.

“Otisville Lions Club has brought with them all local vendors making this a true community country Fair. Working with the Lions Club has been an honor and we look forward to many years of growth and fun for all.”

Come visit and enjoy live entertainment, antique car shows, 4-H exhibits, animal shows, amusement rides, tractor pull, delicious food, celebrate the 100th Anniversary of 4-H, hands-on activities, and demonstrations, and so much more.
