“Love Our City” Fills City Residents With Pride

NEWBURGH – The City of Newburgh Recreation Department, in collaboration with Church at the Bridge, hosted a “Love Our City” event on Saturday at the Delano Hitch Stadium.

More than one thousand people passed thru the main gate to listen to the various music artists on the main stage as well as, enjoy the numerous vendors set up on the perimeter of the stadium.

The City of Newburgh Water Department was on hand with its portable hydrating station, offering ice cold water to ensure everyone in attendance stayed hydrated during the hot summer afternoon.

At one table, volunteers were handing out free food bags to anyone in need, while other participants gave away prepared food and drinks. Church at the Bridge was handing out free hot dogs and chips, while right next door, Perfect Sweets handed out 1,000 cups of lemonade [they handed out 500 at the community family barbecue earlier in the week].

Mayor Torrance Harvey said the city, and its recreation department, was proud to work with Pastors Jose and Annette at Church at the Bridge to put on such a wonderful event. “We all came together to show love and support for our city by doing multiple activities for a week throughout the city of Newburgh to show love.” Harvey was encouraged by the large turnout and positive response the event received.
