Ivelisse Mojica to Join VCSD as Assistant Superintendent

MONTGOMERY – Mrs. Ivelisse Mojica was appointed by the Board of Education as Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction on Monday, July 24, 2023.
Mrs. Mojica comes to the district with seven years of administrative experience. As a Principal, Assistant Principal, and Principal of Elementary and Secondary Extended School Year Programs, she has led various school programs with diverse student populations in both the Newburgh Enlarged City School District and in the Bronx.

Mrs. Mojica has supported districtwide initiatives on Comprehensive School Threat Assessment Guidelines, systems for data reporting and analysis, and developed progress monitoring of student achievement using a cohesive standards-based approach. Ms. Mojica has facilitated professional learning and collaborated with district leaders on Grading Policy, Alternative Schooling, and the new APPR Principal Evaluation Rubric.

Prior to her administrative experience, Ms. Mojica was a Master Teacher in the Bronx Arena High School in the mathematics tenure area.

Mrs. Mojica received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Hunter College with a major in Adolescent Math Education. She also received her SBL/SDL certification through Hunter College.

A District Level One Interviewing Committee consisting of a paraprofessional, principal, teacher, Central Office staff from the Curriculum and Instruction Office, and two high school students interviewed several candidates. The committee unanimously agreed that Mrs. Mojica was a top candidate. Mrs. Mojica was also a top candidate in all stages of the process.

The Board stated that they are confident that Mrs. Mojica will be a tremendous asset to the Valley Central School District and look forward to working with her. Mrs. Mojica will officially the district on August 23rd.
