Marching Band Scores at First Competition!

KINGSTON – The Kingston High School (KHS) Tiger Marching Band scored a 72.200 at Mohonasen High School on Saturday in its first performance in 2023 New York State Field Band competition!

The marching band will participate in four additional field band competitions this fall, culminating with the New York State Field Band Championship on October 29th in the JMA Wireless Dome (formerly the Carrier Dome) at Syracuse University. The annual “Fall Fanfare,” the band’s home competition, will take place at Saugerties High School on Sunday, October 22nd.

With over 170 students participating, the KHS Tiger Marching Band is the largest competitive scholastic marching band in New York state. In 2022, they finished second in the Large School 2nd Division at the New York State Field Band Conference Championships. The band is under the direction of Stephen Garner and Jeffrey Giebelhaus. The 2023 show, “Apo11o,” features music by Walt Disney Studios and Elton John.
