MSMC Blue Knights Are Defeated by Cardinals

PLATTSBURGH – On a rainy Friday evening, the Mount Saint Mary College Women’s Tennis made the trek upstate to take on Plattsburgh State University. The Knights fought through tough matches, but ultimately fell short to the dominant Cardinals.

The duo of Carly Green and Victoria Valencia put up a notable fight with a score of 8-5, the closest of tonight’s doubles sets across the board. Both Green and Valencia gave the Knights their closest scores of the match in singles as well, with Valencia coming just shy of a tie in her first set.

Peyton Curley had a close fight during her first set against the Cardinals, with an initial score of 6-4. The Knights’ Blanca Santana, Angelina Mainiero and Paige Shrimpton all powered through challenging matches just the same, though each fell to the Cardinals after two sets.

Head Coach Yancy Butler views this match as a learning experience. “Today the girls fought hard and showed they have gotten the basics down,” said Butler. “I’m looking forward to tomorrow to get a chance to build on what we learned today.”
