Red Foxes Win Fourth Straight PFL Game

CLINTON, SC – The Marist football team earned a 19-10 win at Presbyterian in a Pioneer Football League game on Saturday. The Red Foxes scored two defensive touchdowns as they earned their fourth straight victory in PFL play.

After a fumble on the opening kickoff, Presbyterian took over at the Marist 17 and scored four plays later on a two-yard touchdown run by Nigel Brown.

Marist tied the game on a defensive touchdown. Angelo Vokolos recorded a strip sack, and Miles Kauderer picked up the fumble and returned it 43 yards for a score. This tied the game with 10:31 left in the first quarter.

Mack Mikko’s 38-yard field goal gave Presbyterian a 10-7 lead with 12:43 left in the second quarter.

Rechee Smith intercepted a pass and returned it 52 yards for a touchdown, which gave Marist a 14-10 lead with 59 seconds left in the first half. Marist took a four-point lead into the locker room.

Presbyterian drove inside the Marist five on its first drive of the second half. However, the Red Foxes held after a running play for one yard, two incomplete passes, and a missed field goal.

Marist took a 16-10 lead on a safety on punt coverage. Kade Werner made the tackle in the end zone on a return with 12:16 left in the fourth quarter.

Chase Gardi’s 32-yard field goal extended Marist’s lead to 19-10 with 2:48 remaining.
