NEWBURGH – The Knights honored their departing senior before the game. A beloved player, and captain, Mary Milano will be missed by the team and coaching staff, as she set a new benchmark for what it means to be a teammate. The gym was decorated and all members of the team wore shirts to honor their friend and teammate on “Mary Day.”
The Knights came out swinging, and provided an unending amount of offense against the Bears. They secured a resounding victory over their opponents, winning 25-19, 25-13, 25-19.

Mary Milano, the senior star of the evening, delivered an impressive performance with 5 kills and 2 digs, contributing significantly to the team’s success. Erin Lema (5) and Jonaiya Williams (15) also stood out, combining for an additional 20 kills. Once again, Vanessa Mleczko went on multiple runs serving that at one point took ever the match. Aubriana Boyce lead the team with 29 assists.

“It was a good night for us. As a team we clinched a spot in the playoffs and we were able to celebrate Mary, and give her an evening she truly deserved.” Said Coach Strano after the match.

As the Mount secures a spot in the post-season each of the players seems to be peaking at the right time. The hitting and defending are all coming together and the Knights are on a roll. Tonight’s win is the second in a row for the team and they will look to extend their streak in their next match which will be on Saturday Nov. 7th at 12pm at Sarah Lawrence.

Although tonight marked their last home game of the season for the team, the Mount Community will undoubtably still be supporting the team going forward in the remainder of their season.
