Marist Football Drops PFL Game to Dayton, 35-6

DAYTON, OH – The Marist football team fell to Dayton 35-6 in a Pioneer Football League game at Welcome Stadium on Saturday.

Dayton got on the board first 50 seconds into the second quarter on a one-yard touchdown run by Luke Hansen.

The Flyers took a 14-0 lead following a 16-yard touchdown pass from Drew VanVleet to Sam Bubonics with 4:47 left in the second quarter. Dayton took a 14-0 lead to the locker room.

On Dayton’s first drive of the second half, VanVleet threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to Jake Coleman.

Marist responded with a 14-yard touchdown pass from Logan Brabham to Matt Stianche.

On the first play of the fourth quarter, Hansen scored a rushing touchdown from one yard out.

Dayton closed out the scoring with 5:39 left on an 11-yard touchdown run by Logan Davis.

Marist is now 4-6 overall and finished PFL play this season with a 4-4 record.

Marist closes out the 2023 season on Saturday, November 18 against Bucknell at Tenney Stadium.
