Senator James Skoufis (D-Orange County) joined Agri-Business Child Development (ABCD), and Jewish Family Services of Orange County on a crisp, sunny afternoon, to host his annual Thanksgiving canned goods drive distribution event. 100 bags filled with fresh produce and canned goods as well as frozen turkeys were handed out at the Paramount Theater in the city of Middletown to ensure Orange County families who are facing challenging times can enjoy a warm, nutritious meal on Thanksgiving Day.
The event’s success was made possible through the generous contributions from dozens of Orange County residents, local markets and organizations including Stop & Shop and Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall. Donations included an assortment of fresh vegetables, canned soup, fruits, beans, pasta, and stuffing mix.
“A sense of home, accompanied by the sustenance of a warm meal should be within reach for all of our neighbors during the holiday season, irrespective of financial hardship” said Skoufis. “This Thanksgiving, I am deeply grateful for this seamless collaboration with our community partners, and the folks whose generous contributions to this year’s canned goods drive have ensured that our families are supported and fed.”
