Bard Men’s Basketball Drops Nailbiter to RPI

The Bard College men’s basketball team fell to RPI on Saturday afternoon in the final seconds, 47-45.

Bard was led by seniors Azriel Almodovar and Rowan Heinze, who each had 10 points. Almodovar led the team with eight rebounds and added two steals. Heinze added two assists, two steals and two blocks. Fellow senior, Lazaros Panagiotounis added a team-high three steals, while junior Sean Wilcox had seven points and seven rebounds.

The Raptors took an early lead in the first half and had a five-point lead at halftime, 24-19.

RPI came out shooting and took a small lead. At 1:10, RPI took a three-point lead, but Bard answered back with a three-pointer by Wilcox with 38 seconds left. The Engineers made a layup with 13 seconds left and the Raptors were unable to make their final shot to take home the victory.

Bard will be back at home to host Skidmore on Friday, January 19 at 7:30 p.m.
