POUGHKEEPSIE – The Marist men’s basketball team fell to Mount St. Mary’s on Friday night at the McCann Arena by a score of 76-58.
Jaden Daughtry opened up scoring for the Red Foxes with a layup.
Mount St. Mary’s responded with an 8-0 run over 4:14.
Isaiah Brickner closed the scoring drought at 13:43 with two free throws to put the Red Foxes within four.
Trace Salton carried the scoring momentum with a jumper and 3-point play, putting Marist ahead 9-8 at 12:36.
Mount extended its lead to nine thanks to a 5-0 run and a 7-0 run.
Max Allen II’s key block led to a three from Kam Farris, which put the Red Foxes back within seven points at 4:37.
The Mount responded with a 13-0 run, putting them ahead 38-18.
Mount St. Mary’s led 41-20 at half.
DeShayne Montgomery’s three-pointer with 14:41 left gave Mount its largest lead of 32.
The Red Foxes countered with a 9-0 run, and later had runs of 7-0 and 8-0.
Marist continued fighting back in the final five minutes, as a Kam Farris jumper put the Red Foxes back within 15 at the 4:53 mark.
Dakota Leffew scored the Mount’s next seven points to put his team back up 20 with under three minutes left.
Marist scored the game’s final four points.
