BROOKLYN – The Mount Saint Mary College Women’s Basketball team (18-7, 17-3 Skyline) closed out their regular season with a 78-62 victory over St. Joseph’s University-Brooklyn (5-20, 4-16 Skyline) on Saturday afternoon at The Hill Center. The win solidifies the Knights’ second-place finish in the Skyline Conference and secures a first-round bye in the upcoming conference tournament.

“This wasn’t our best game defensively,” admitted Head Coach Marion Dietz, “but we did a great job as a team trying out different things we’ve been working on. It was good to have everyone back and see everyone score and play in our last regular season game.”

Despite allowing St. Joseph’s to hang around throughout the contest, the Knights never truly relinquished control. Led by Sara Cashin’s (19 points) hot hand and contributions from across the roster, MSMC built a comfortable lead in the second half and cruised to the win.

Cashin shot an efficient 8-of-12 from the field, draining three free throws and adding a steal. Charlotte Twohig (13 points), Brianna Guglielmo (12 points), and Ciarra Quinn (11 points) also reached double figures in scoring for the Knights.

The balanced scoring effort was a key factor in the victory, as every Mount player who saw action managed to get on the scoreboard. The Knights displayed their depth and versatility, showcasing their ability to produce offense from multiple positions.

“The new season starts on Monday,” declared Dietz, “and we move on one day at a time as we prepare to make a run in post-season play.”

With the regular season concluded, the Knights await their opponent for the Skyline Conference tournament quarterfinals. The official announcement of the tournament bracket and matchups will be made early next week.
