New Art Show in Mindy Ross Gallery on Display

NEWBURGH – A new art show opened in the Mindy Ross Gallery on February 26, 2024. The multi-media exhibit displays the works of eight deeply thought-filled artists who share those thoughts and feelings through their visual artworks:Elizabeth de Bethune, Julie Lindell, Barbara Masterson, Joseph Radoccia, Anita Ragusa, Ben Seaman, Peter Smith, and Richard Taddei.

Spirit Songs: Visual Voices of LGBTIQA+ Artists will grace the walls and glass vitrine cases of the gallery through April 26. The media and sizes with which the artists have created vary greatly: acrylic, gouache, oil, monotype prints, collages, assemblages, and pencil & ink drawings.

The works have been carefully chosen and curated by artist Karen E. Gersch who has previously curated two shows in Orange Hall Gallery in 2017 and 2019, as well as many shows in the Hudson Valley and Connecticut.

Affinity months may emphasize various communities within our multi-cultural country, but recognizing them throughout the year is equally important. So, the February through April timeframe may not be Pride Month, but these works remain powerful and exquisite. Make a point of visiting the show during gallery hours, Monday through Thursday 8am to 9pm and Friday 8am to 6pm.

Calendars should be marked on Saturday, March 2 for the reception from 2 to 4.
Kaplan Hall, SUNY Orange is located at the corner of Grand and First Streets, GPS: 73 First St, Newburgh, where free parking is available in the college garage.
