Marist Baseball Wins Series Against Richmond

RICHMOND, VA – The Marist baseball team won its first series of the 2024 season, Sunday afternoon. The Red Foxes split a doubleheader against the University of Richmond, defeating the Spiders 5-3 and falling 11-3.

The Red Foxes move to 4-10 overall on the 2024 season.

Game One
Richmond struck first in the bottom-half of the first inning with a run.

In the top-half of the second inning, the Red Foxes evened the game at 1-1.

Kyle Pollack brought home Justin Kapuscinski on a sacrifice fly.

Riley Orr pitched a scoreless second inning for the Red Foxes.

Orr tallied two strikeouts in the inning.

Orr pitched a second consecutive scoreless inning during the third.

The Red Foxes and Spiders were tied 1-1 at the end of three innings of play.

In the top-half of the fourth inning, Ethan Conrad led off with a hit by pitch.

Marco Ali singled which put runners at first and second with no outs in the inning.

Conrad and Ali advanced in the inning on a wild pitch.

Justin Kapuscinski scored Conrad on a fielder’s choice and recorded an RBI.

Bayram Hot followed Kapuscinski with another RBI fielder’s choice.

The Red Foxes led 3-1 after the top-half of the fourth.

Riley Orr Pitched a fourth consecutive scoreless inning for the Red Foxes in the fifth.

With one out in the sixth inning, Bayram Hot doubled which put the Red Foxes in scoring position.

In the top-half of the seventh inning, the Red Foxes added a run on a bases-loaded walk with two outs.

Jack Keenan pitched a scoreless sixth and seventh inning for the Red Foxes.

Jack Wren closed the game out with two scoreless innings of relief.

Wren struck out the side to end the game.

The Red Foxes defeated Richmond 4-1 in the first game of the doubleheader.

Game Two
The Red Foxes struck first in the top of the first inning with a run.

Johnny Decker reached base with a walk. Decker followed the walk with a steal.

Marco Ali brought home Decker with a sacrifice fly.

The Red Foxes led 1-0 against the Spiders after the top-half of the inning.

Richmond gained the lead in the first inning with a two-run home run.

The Red Foxes trailed 2-1 after the first inning of play.

Will Taylor pitched a scoreless second inning for the Red Foxes.

In the third inning, the Red Foxes evened the game at 2-2.

Justin Kapuscinski recorded an RBI double which brought home Marco Ali.

Ali reached base with a walk.

The Spiders regained the lead in the bottom of the third with a run.

The Red Foxes trailed 3-2 after three innings of play.

With one out in the fourth inning, Danny Moshier doubled for the Red Foxes.

Colin Mackle followed with a walk.

A double play limited the Red Foxes from scoring in the inning.

Andrew Fierro pitched a scoreless fourth inning for the Red Foxes.

The Red Foxes tied the game in the top-half of the fifth inning on a throwing error from Richmond.

The Red Foxes and Spiders were even at 3-3 through five innings of play.

Andrew Fierro pitched a scoreless fifth and sixth innings for the Red Foxes in the game.

Richmond gained the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning with eight runs scored.

The Red Foxes fell in the final game of the series against Richmond 11-4.
