Army Softball Falls to Boston University

WEST POINT – The Army West Point softball team (4-22) suffered a heartbreaker in the final game of their Patriot League opener series against no. 24 Boston University (25-3), falling in extra innings.

For the first seven innings, the game remained a scoreless pitching battle between Army’s Amanda Eaglin and BU’s Kasey Ricard.

The Black Knights struggled to secure a hit until the bottom of the third inning, when Parker Llantero singled to right field.

Throughout the initial seven innings, Eaglin held the Terriers to just five hits and three walks, none of which they were able to capitalize on.

However, the Terriers seized the opportunity in the ninth inning when Sellers hit the game’s first double, igniting momentum for Boston University, who went on to score three runs.

In the bottom of the ninth, Army couldn’t regain momentum and ultimately fell 3-0.

Llantero led the hitting charge for the Black Knights, going 2-for-3 on the day, while Kayla Edwards, Ashton White, and Mia Bonsignore each contributed with one hit.
