Army Track & Field Falls to Navy Midshipmen

WEST POINT – The Army West Point track and field teams fell to Navy on Saturday at Shea Stadium.

Men: Navy 114-89
Women: Navy 111-92

Emily Fink opened the day with a big win in the women’s hammer throw, with a toss of 59.94m. Kayley Ragazzini placed second with a throw of 56.66m. Lindsey Smith brought home the win in the long jump, jumping 5.68m. The discus was a strong point for the Black Knight women, Karly Parcell won with Olivia Hancock and Sophia Dykstra coming in right behind her in second and third. Mikayla Cheney ran a 4:34.68 to win the 1500m. Fink doubled up her performance with a win in the shot put, tossing 14.79m. Aysia Salas and Sara Sahadi finished in second and third. Emma Taylor brought home the crown in the 100m at 11.72. She then won the 200m at 24.12. The 4×400 team of Ever Elegon, Lara Westwood-Marsh, Cherokee Chambers, Emma Taylor won with a time of 3:47.05.

Cameron Smith took home the crown in the men’s hammer throw with a throw of 63.86m. Caleb Smith then won the men’s long jump with a jump of 7.19m. Josh Gillard brought home the win in the high jump, jumping 2.05m. The 4x100m squad of Jaxon Hammond, Brian Matthews, Trey McGinnis, and Joshua Duncan won with a time of 40.56. Duncan proceeded to win the 100m with a time of 10.60. The 800m went to the Black Knights after Ammon Smith ran a 1:51.46 to win. Brian Matthews won the 400H with a time of 52.11.

The final win of the day came from the 4x400m team of Brian Matthews, Kasen Jeitz, Shawn Carter, and Luke Griner who won by 12 seconds at 3:15.62.
