The MSMC Knights Split Doubleheader

PATCHOGUE – The Mount Saint Mary College softball team earned a hard-fought split in their doubleheader against the Saint Joseph’s University Brooklyn Bears on Thursday afternoon.

Game 1: Bears Hold Off Knights
After a scoreless first inning, the Bears struck first, scoring two in the bottom of the second inning. MSMC remained scoreless throughout, with pitcher Grace MacDonald ultimately suffering the loss. Despite the defeat, she tallied seven strikeouts. Offensively, the Knights had seven hits in the game, including a double by Laura Dentato.

Game 2: Knights Explode, MacDonald Earns Win
The Mount bounced back in a big way in game two. In the top of the third inning, the Knights’ offense erupted for a seven-run inning. Olivia Ferara, Chloe Graham, and Graced MacDonald each had RBIs as the Knights took control of the game and never looked back.
MacDonald was also dominant in the circle, earning the complete-game victory and holding the Bears to only one run, while striking out four. Offensively, Olivia Ferara was a standout, going 2-for-5 with an RBI. Freshman Chloe Graham also had herself a day going 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run.

The Knights will continue their season on the road with a non-conference doubleheader against William Paterson College on Monday, April 17th, at 3 pm.
