100th Annual American Heart Association Walk

POUGHKEEPSIE – Saturday morning at Walkway Over the Hudson the 100th Annual Anniversary of the American Heart Association Walk took place on a picture perfect, clear blue sky, sunny day.

The Fitclub Club, led by Kattya Fernandez, who has been working close to 15 years raising money for the organization through zumbathons and walks. For Fernandez, of New Windsor, who has heart disease, bringing awareness to the forefront is personal. She is quick to point to a pivotal fact- statistic which needs to change: Heart disease is the number one killer in women, claiming more lives than cancer each year.

Funds and awareness raised by Saturday’s walk is hoping to change that reality one step at a time.
