Kenneth J. Penfield

Kenneth J. Penfield, a proud Korean War Veteran of the United States Army, a retired member of Teamster Local 445, and a cherished member of the Schaghticoke Tribal Nation in Kent, Connecticut, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital at the age of 91. Kenneth found joy in the simple pleasures of life, spending time with family and friends, indulging in his favorite pastimes of fishing, yard work, and dancing. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Kenneth is survived by his devoted wife, Mildred Arlene Freeman-Penfield; loving children, Donna Marie Penfield-Eugene and Marcel Shane Penfield; dear brother, Kindell Penfield; caring sister, Linda Penfield; adored grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and his faithful companion, dog Symba. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his son Kenneth PenfieldIII, brothers, Arthur Penfield and Charles Penfield, and his sisters, Barbara Wilson and Blanche Blue.

Kenneth’s spirit and zest for life will be remembered fondly by those whose lives he touched, and his legacy of kindness and warmth will endure in the hearts of his loved ones.
A funeral service will be held at St. George’s Episcopal Church at 11 AM on Saturday, May 11. Burial of cremains and military honors will take place on Monday, May 13 at 11 AM at Orange County Veteran’s Cemetery.
