FAIRFIELD, CT – The Marist softball team fell 2-1 to the Fairfield Stags in the final regular season game of the year on Saturday afternoon.

Despite the loss, the Red Foxes are the 2024 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference regular season champions.

Marist, as the top seed, has earned the right to host the MAAC Championships tournament, which is set to begin on Wednesday, May 8th.

Peyton Pusey and Miah McDonald led off the game with back-to-back singles. Sam Rogers followed up with an RBI single to put the day’s first run on the board for the Red Foxes.

The Stags capitalized on two Marist errors in the bottom of the fifth, tying the game at 1-1.

In the bottom of the seventh, Fairfield led off with a triple to put the winning run in scoring position. After getting one out, the next batter hit a sacrifice fly to walk it off for the Stags.
