Brewers Garner All-Liberty League Baseball Honors

TROY – The Liberty League announced its end of the season award winners on Tuesday afternoon as the Vassar College Baseball team earned three honorees with All-Liberty League status. Senior outfielder Reid Lapekas was named an All-League First Team selection, senior shortstop Jack Silvera earned Second Team honors and junior catcher/designated hitter Michael Lee was tabbed a Honorable Mention selection.

Lapekas, who earned his second straight First Team selection, led the offense for the second consecutive season as the senior finished the season hitting a team-best .394 and ranks third in the Liberty League in batting average. He also led the team in hits with 50, including a team-high 11 doubles, while scoring a team-best 26 runs. Lapekas added 19 runs batted in and finished the season 6-for-6 in stolen base attempts. The senior also finished the season with a .455 on-base percentage and a .512 slugging percentage, both of which ranks second on the squad.

Lapekas has been named an All-League selection in three positions as he earned Second Team honors at third base in 2022 followed by a First Team selection at second base last season and a First Team selection as an outfielder in 2024. Lapekas closes his career with 164 total hits, which puts him fifth all-time in Vassar history. He also ranks third all-time in doubles with 36, third in batting average at .365, fourth in on-base percentage at .442 fifth in runs scored with 103, seventh in at-bats with 449, second in sacrifice hits with 16 and fifth in slugging percentage at .470. Lapekas was named D3Baseball.com All-Region Second Team and ABCA All-Region Third Team last season and had been named to the Liberty League All-Academic Team three times in his career.

Silvera, who garners his first career All-League nod, put together his strongest season in his senior campaign. Silvera finished fourth on the team in batting average at .327 while driving in a team-high 28 runs and was second on the team in hits with 34. The senior led the the team in slugging percentage at .519 with nine doubles, one triple and a team-high three homers. Silvera closes his two-year career (missed two seasons due to injury) with a .306 batting average and has hit five career home runs along with slugging .477. Silvera has been named to the Liberty League All-Academic team three times and was a finalist for the Vassar Athletics Scholar-Athlete of the Year award.

Lee, who earns his first career All-League honor, returned from last season’s injury and finished second on the team in batting average at .375 while leading the squad in on-base percentage at .469. Lee finished the season with 30 hits in 80 at-bats and recorded 20 runs scored along with five extra-base hits, including his first career home run. Lee has been named to the Liberty League All-Academic Team twice so far.

Vassar finished the season 12-21 overall and 7-7 overall in Liberty League conference action.
