POUGHKEEPSIE – On Sunday, August 25th the Southside Historic District will host the 5th annual Poughkeepsie PorchFest from 12:00 – 6:30pm. This family-friendly, FREE event features musicians from a wide variety of genres.
More than twenty porches in Poughkeepsie’s Academy Street & Garfield Place Historic District neighborhood will host musicians performing everything from jazz and spoken word, to pop, country and rock. The event draws up-and-coming performers as well as seasoned professionals from the region.
This celebration of live music and community also includes children’s activities, food vendors and more. Visitors are invited to stroll through the historic neighborhood, which features houses in a variety of 19th and early 20th century styles. The tree-lined streets offer shady spots to stand and watch performers.
A schedule will be available, and a map of porches and performers will be posted throughout the neighborhood. Parking is available on side streets or nearby municipal lots.
The event takes place rain or shine, within reason. Follow Poughkeepsie PorchFest on FaceBook and Instagram for details and updates.
