POUGHKEEPSIE – The Mid Hudson Ivy Foundation Scholarship Committee in collaboration with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Iota Alpha Omega Chapter has selected their 2024 scholarship recipients. This year’s applicants continued to impress the committee. All of the students who applied were absolutely outstanding in their own right.
The two organizations are dedicated to helping students from the Mid-Hudson Valley achieve their academic goals. Scholarship applications are accepted each year during the months of February through March.
Over the past fifty-four years, the Mid-Hudson Ivy Foundation and its predecessors have been instrumental in assisting over 155 high school students in furthering a higher level of education through college attendance. While working in collaboration with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® Iota Alpha Omega Chapter, the Mid-Hudson Ivy Foundation has been able to award $158,000 in collegiate scholarships to high school seniors in the Mid-Hudson Valley.
This year the Mid Hudson Ivy Foundation is excited to announce that they will be celebrating their 55th year of service to the Mid-Hudson Valley on November 16th, 2024 at the Villa Borghese, Wappingers Falls, NY. They will be honoring the following:
● Joy Elaine Daley – 30th North Atlantic Regional Director and 9th International Regional Director, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
● Yvonne Flowers – First African American and Woman Mayor, of Poughkeepsie, New York
● Walter Joseph – Executive Director, Children’s Home of Poughkeepsie
● Dr. Darrell P. Wheeler − First African American President, The State University of New York, College at New Paltz

The 2024 Scholarship recipients are as follows: Amira Ibrahiml – 2nd year recipient of the Lorraine M. Petty Roberts Collegiate Scholarship ($2,500); Olivia Del Castillo – the Betty White Collegiate Scholarship ($2,000); Ava LaCorte – the Karen Faulding-Sorlie Scholarship ($500); Moriah Downes – the Mary Bentley LaMar Award ($500); Gianna Chiappini, Erin Drickel, Ellie Hoppe, Cammy Le and Tanya Sinha are recipients of Book Awards (500).
