BOSTON – A trio of second half goals were the difference for Army West Point Men’s Soccer against Boston University on Saturday.
After taking a 1-0 lead into the break for the second consecutive match, the Terriers notched three scoring plays to take a permanent lead at Nickerson Field in the teams’ Patriot League opener.
Jubril Bamgbala provided the match-opening assist on Lyons’ goal in the 3’. Bamgbala dribbled down the right side of the pitch, delivering the ball to Lyons who then deflected the ball to himself inside the 18-yard box before finishing the goal.
After BU goals in the 52’, 66’ and 78’, Army gave themselves a chance at a result when Lyons finished a corner kick from Justin Davidyock in the 83.
Lyons’ brace was the first multi-goal match for a Black Knight since Nick Atkinson vs. Bucknell on Oct. 14, 2022.
Army commences a four-match homestand this Saturday, with the Lehigh Mountain Hawks visiting West Point for a 7:00 p.m. fixture.
