DAVIDSON, NC – The Marist football team dropped a Pioneer Football League contest at Davidson by a score of 42-19 on Saturday at Richardson Stadium.
Davidson jumped out to a 21-0 lead with two touchdowns in the first quarter and one in the second, but Sonny Mannino connected with Jack Melore on a 68-yard touchdown pass to get the Red Foxes on the board. The score remained 21-7 at halftime.
After Davidson expanded its lead to 28-7 in the third, Mannino connected with Jackson Conners-McCarthy on a five-yard scoring pass. The Wildcats’ lead was 28-13 after three quarters.
Mannino’s third touchdown pass of the day, which went to Mohamed Diawara from six yards out, brought the Red Foxes to within 28-19 at the 6:36 mark of the fourth quarter.
Davidson expanded its lead with two touchdowns in a span of 54 seconds late in the fourth quarter to close out the scoring.
