CENTRAL VALLEY – Carol Johnson-Cromer has beat breast cancer three times and part of her inspiration during her fight was to motivate others who may be diagnosed with the disease.
It’s fitting that Johnson-Cromer will be the 2024 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer (MSABC) Walk Ambassador at the event on Sunday, Oct. 20, at Woodbury Common Premium Outlets.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. According to the ACS, breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the U.S., except for skin cancers. More than 42,000 women will die from breast cancer in 2024.
Johnson-Cromer, who this week was named Orange County’s Citizen of the Month for October, has been participating in the MSABC of the Hudson Valley Walk for 22 years with three teams: a knockout breast cancer team called Mother and Son MSABC, NTA (Newburgh Teachers’ Association) MSABC Team, and Mid-Hudson Valley Alumnae Chapter Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. She also volunteers with the American Cancer Society and provides support to those battling the disease.
Over the past three decades, MSABC walks have collectively grown into the nation’s largest and most impactful breast cancer movement – providing a supportive community for survivors, caregivers, and families alike. Proceeds fund lifesaving breast cancer research and is committed to advancing health equity through essential programs and services.
