SAN DIEGO, Ca – The Marist football team was defeated at San Diego by a score of 34-6 in a Pioneer Football League contest on Saturday.
San Diego got on the board with two touchdowns in the first quarter. Eric Haney opened the scoring with a 46-yard interception return, and then Grant Sergeant found Ja’seem Reed for a 21-yard touchdown.
The Toreros maintained a 14-0 lead at halftime. Marist drove to the San Diego 1 late in the first half, but was unable to score.
Aidan Lehman connected from 52 yards out to give the Toreros a 17-0 lead with 10:23 left in the third quarter.
Marist got on the scoreboard with a 21-yard touchdown pass from Sonny Mannino to Mohamed Diawara with 6:00 left in the third quarter.
Reed’s second touchdown of the day came on an 18-yard reception late in the third quarter.
San Diego led 24-6 after three quarters.
The Toreros added 10 more points in the fourth to close out the scoring.
Marist is 0-7 overall and 0-4 in the PFL, while San Diego is 4-2 this season and 2-1 in league play.
