Newburgh Drinking Water Update

NEWBURGH – The Cleanup of Newburgh’s Contaminated Drinking Water Needs You!  An event is scheduled for October 23, 2024, at the Armory Unity Center.  Help to protect the drinking water supplies for Newburgh and New Windsor on Oct.23 from 5 to 8 pm.

Have you wondered about your drinking water or heard about polluted water here?

It is safe to drink the Newburgh water.  Newburgh’s drinking water is currently being purchased from NYC and delivered to the Newburgh Water Dept.  That might not last forever.  Please visit the Armory for a public Open House and Poster Session detailing the clean-up of PFAS/PFOS contamination at the Stewart Air National Guard Base (SANG).

The Stewart Base is the largest Air Guard Base in the country.  The National Guard and its Restoration Advisory Board (RAB) is hosting the session to demonstrate the on-going clean-up actions at the Base.  Representative of the Air National Guard and their scientists and consultants as well as City of Newburgh officials, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the NYS Dept. of Environmental Conservation will be there for one-to-one conversations with visitors.  Live Spanish translation will be available.

Stop by any time between 5:00 and 8:00 p.m. for this opportunity to learn about your drinking water.  The Newburgh Armory Unity Center, Larkin Center, is located at 531 South William St., Newburgh NY.  For more information visit: Riverkeeper.org/Newburgh.
