POUGHKEEPSIE – The Marist men’s basketball team rallied in the final minutes for a 54-49 win over New Hampshire inside McCann Arena on Saturday.
Josh Pascarelli and Elijah Lewis led the Red Foxes in scoring with 14 points each. Jaden Daughtry added nine points, five rebounds, and four blocked shots.
With the win, the Red Foxes improve to 4-1 on the early campaign while the Wildcats fall to 2-7.
First Half
New Hampshire opened the scoring with a 6-2 lead.
Trailing 9-4, Jason Schofield and Jadin Collins-Roberts scored on consecutive possessions to make it 9-8.
The Wildcats went on a 7-0 run to take a 16-8 lead, their biggest of the game.
The Red Foxes responded with a 7-0 run of their own to make it a one-point game again.
Marist shot 9-for-20 (.450) from the field in the first half, while New Hampshire shot 9-for-23 (.391).
Marist shot 2-for-8 (.250) from three-point range in the first half, while New Hampshire shot 3-for-8 (.375).
New Hampshire took a 24-22 lead into the halftime break.
New Hampshire never trailed in the first half.
Khalil Badru scored a game-high eight points in the first half.
Second Half
Elijah Lewis scored the first points of the second half to tie the game at 24 apiece.
Khalil Badru scored with just under six minutes remaining to give the Wildcats a 39-34 lead, their largest of the second half.
A three pointer by Jackson Price, assisted by Collins-Roberts, with 2:57 on the clock put the Red Foxes ahead 43-42 for their first lead of the game.
Josh Pascarelli drained both of his free throw attempts to give the Red Foxes a 45-42 lead with 2:16 remaining.
Nursing a 47-46 lead, Josh Pascarelli delivered the dagger with a triple to put the Red Foxes up 50-56 with :51 remaining.
