ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON – The Bard College men’s basketball team got back in the win column as the Raptors took down Clarkson 87-71, on Saturday afternoon at Stevenson Athletic Center.
Bard had four players in double-digit points, including Lazaros Panagiotounis leading the charge with 18 points. Panagiotounis added eight rebounds, three assists and two steals. Sean Wilcox had a near double-double with 16 points, nine rebounds, two assists and no turnovers.
Azriel Almodovar tied his career-high of seven assists and had a team-high five steals. Almodovar added 15 points and a block. Angelos Bratakos scored a career-high 10 points, going 3-of-4 from behind the arc.
Rowan Heinze contributed with nine points and eight rebounds, while Luke Ravitz and Jalen Umstead each had four points. Ravitz grabbed a career-high three boards. Ahmad Rauf grabbed six rebounds and had three points and three assists.
Clarkson took an early lead in the first half, going on an 11-4 run to take a 14-9 lead after seven minutes of play. The Golden Knights led 23-14 after 10 minutes of play, but the Raptors went on a 10-2 run to trail by one. Tied up at 33-33 with a layup from Heinze at the 1:12 mark, Bard went on a 7-5 run to take a two-point lead heading to halftime.
In the second half, Bard shot 56.25% from the field and 50% from behind the arc as the Raptors outscored Clarkson 47-33. With nine minutes left to play, Bard went on a 15-5 run to lead by as much as 19 points. A tip-in layup made by Umstead at the 2:38 mark gave Bard its largest lead of 21 points.
Bard will be back at home to take on Vassar on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
