Mount Bested by St. Joseph’s Long Island

PATCHOGUE – Mount Saint Mary College men’s basketball lost on the road in their match with St. Joseph’s Long Island.

Mount Saint Mary attempted to continue their momentum from their win against Merchant Marine. Ben Toussaint came in as an early sub and got the first basket for the Knights.

Back-to-back buckets for Connor Cyran gave the Mount a 9-6 lead a quarter of the way through the half. The Golden Eagles went on an 8-0 run just moments later, but the Knights pushed back. Mount Saint Mary trailed by as many as 9 until a small run capped off by a JP Egan three put them back on track. Despite only shooting 29.41% from the field and 2-18 from three, the Knights were only down 33-27 at the half.

St. Joseph’s scored the first 6 points of the second half until Ben Toussaint knocked down a three. The Knights not only struggled to score but were also out-rebounded 49-33.

Eventually, the Golden Eagles led by 15 as the Mount was only able to score sporadically.

Ryan Graham and Connor Cyran were aggressive on the offensive end, drawing 11 of the Knight’s 18 free throws this game. Mount Saint Mary was unable to continue their hot shooting from beyond the arc from the previous game, as they only made 4 of their 35 attempts. The Knights ultimately lost to the Golden Eagles by the final score of 71-50.
