STEPHENVILLE, Texas – The Marist softball team earned its third straight win on Sunday, as the Red Foxes closed out play in the Texan Classic with a 12-4 victory over Bucknell.
Marist opened the scoring when Maddie Pleasants’ single scored Miah McDonald, who had tripled, in the top of the first.
Bucknell took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the third on Shea Malone’s two-run double.
Marist took the lead for good with a seven-run fifth. Samantha Rogers and Ronni Howard started the rally with RBI singles. Kaitlyn Husic drove in a run on a squeeze. McDonald delivered a two-run triple. The Red Foxes added additional runs on an error and a wild pitch as they sent 11 hitters to the plate in the inning.
Bucknell got two back in the bottom of the fifth, but Rogers belted a solo homer in the sixth.
The Red Foxes tacked on three more in the seventh. McDonald’s RBI single brought home pinch-runner Marissa Scarano. Peyton Pusey came home on a wild pitch. McDonald then scored on Isabella Manory’s sacrifice fly.
Marist had 15 hits. McDonald, Pleasants, and Rogers led the way with three apiece, and Pusey had two.
McDonald finished 3-for-5 with three runs scored, three RBIs, and two triples.
Rogers went 3-for-5 with two runs scored, two RBIs, a homer, and a stolen base.
Pleasants was 3-for-4 with an RBI and a walk.
Pusey went 2-for-5 with two runs scored.
In the circle, Emma Bayor started and struck out three in 2.1. Anna Sidlowski (1-1) picked up the victory with 4.2 innings of relief and three strikeouts.
