Army Baseball Takes Series Finale at Fordham

BRONX – Army West Point Baseball was looking to salvage the weekend in Sunday’s series finale against the Fordham Rams, and did just that with an 8-2 win at Houlihan Park in The Bronx.

Bryce Brownlee allowed just two runs across five innings, three Black Knights recorded multiple RBIs and Robbie Penswick recorded a four-inning save in Army’s win.

In just his third game back this season, William Parker launched a two-run home run in the opening inning to give the Black Knights an early lead. Army never looked back.

The Rams got within a run in the bottom half of the first, but Addison Ainsworth captured the two-run lead back for Army a frame later on a sacrifice fly to score Thomas Schreck.

In the fourth, Chris Barr scored Paul Andrzejewski on a single before Ainsworth tucked a two-run double into the corner in left to put Army ahead 6-1.

After Penswick entered from the bullpen in the sixth inning after a Fordham run, the sophomore retired 12 of his 14 total batters faced, including two on strikeouts. He preserved Brownlee’s win and claimed the second save by a Black Knight pitcher this year.

Army created further separation in the eighth inning, on a Barr RBI infield single and another RBI single off Ainsworth’s bat.
