Marist Basketball Falls in MAAC Quarterfinals

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – The third-seeded Marist University men’s basketball team fell to sixth-seeded Mount St. Mary’s by a score of 62-58 on Thursday night in the quarterfinal round of the MAAC Championships at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall.

First Half
Dallas Hobbs hit back-to-back three-pointers as part of a 7-0 run which lifted Mount St. Mary’s to an early 9-4 lead.

Marist tied the game on thanks to a 5-0 run, which was punctuated by a Tarik Watson dunk at the 11:39 mark.

A 5-0 spurt advanced Mount’s lead to six at the 8:07 mark.

Dola Adebayo scored the final five points of the first half, which gave Mount a 27-19 lead after 20 minutes.

Second Half
Marist started the second half on a 9-3 run to get within two at the 17:30 mark.

Xavier Lipscomb and Arlandus Keyes hit back-to-back threes as part of an 8-0 run, which extended Mount’s lead to 11.

A three by Keyes gave Mount a 12-point lead with 13:55 to go.

Marist held Mount scoreless for 3:45, and Jadin Collins-Roberts’ jumper brought the Red Foxes to within four with 3:57 left.

Marist climbed within two on two occasions – on a three-pointer by Josh Pascarelli with 3:22 remaining and two free throws by Jason Schofield with 2:02 to go – but came no closer.
