Bard Falls Short In Doubleheader At RPI

The Bard College baseball team dropped its conference doubleheader against RPI on Saturday afternoon at Robison Field.

The two teams combined for 32 runs on 46 hits with different Raptors contributing to hits throughout both games with Xavier Webb, Jimmy Famuarlo, Jamie Fryer, and Andrew Plenn having a hit in both contests. Webb (2 hits in game 1), Famuarlo (2 hits in game 2), Fryer (2 hits in game 2), and Rob DeBello (4 hits in game 2) all had multiple-hit games.

Bard took an early 1-0 lead in game 1, but RPI answered with 3 runs in the second inning.

The Raptors added runs in the 5th and 8th innings, but RPI maintained their lead with scores in the 6th and 7th, and broke the game open with 7 runs in the 8th and 9th. Bard scored two more in the 9th, but the game ended 13-6. In game 2, Bard led 3-0 after two innings, but RPI responded with homers in the second and continued to dominate, scoring 5 in the fourth and adding more throughout the game. Bard added runs in the third and eighth, but RPI finished strong with 4 runs in the 8th, winning 15-5.
