The Bard College track and field team competed in their first outdoor season meet at the Monmouth Season Opener.
The Raptors had eight players compete in their first outdoor meet, while three Raptors set a new personal best. Gabrielle Parchment continued where she left off from the indoor season as she set a personal best in the 100 and 200 meters. Parchment’s 13.14 time was only 2 tenths of a second off from the school record set by Imani Jones of 13.12. She ran the 200 meters and shaved off close to 7 tenths of a second with a new time of 28.16, previous time was 28.86.
Jynaiya Grizzle cut nearly a whole second in the 100 meters with a new time of 13.88, previous time was 14.64. She also set a new personal best in the 200 meters with a time of 29.64, shaving off nearly two seconds from her previous time of 31.00.
Camila Sandaal ran a personal best in the 400 meters with a time of 1:10.12, while Hawra Moochhala was close to cutting down her personal best of 27.52 as she finished with a time of 27.64.
Carina Cooke, Lismery Guzman-Cruz, and Emma St. Peter ran their first outdoor meet.
Cooke and Guzman-Cruz ran the 200 meters, while St. Peter ran the 400 meters.
On the men’s side, Lazaros Panagiotounis, Avery Crafton, Ian Zhao, Kai Washington, and Charlie Grenadier ran their first outdoor competition. Panagiotounis hung his basketball shoes and traded them for track shoes as he ran the 100 meters and 200 meters. Crafton also ran the 100 and 200 meters, while Ian Zhao ran the 200 and 400 meters. Kai Washington and Charlie Grenadier both ran the 200 and 400 meters.
In the 5K, Clemente Esponilla led the rally finishing 21st with a time of 16:06.64. Bo Hopwood and Ilyas Hotak finished near each other.
Bard will head to Pratt Institute next Saturday for the Pratt Invitational.
